We’re looking for a skilled Small Works Engineer to join a growing fire protection team, supporting clients across various sites and critical facilities. This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same - one day you’ll be out on site surveying and delivering projects, the next you’ll be liaising with the office team to get quotes, suppliers and sub-contractors moving.
Main responsibilities include:
- Managing and delivering small works and after-service projects from survey through to completion.
- Carrying out site surveys, preparing quotes, and ensuring works are prioritised and delivered on time.
- Overseeing sub-contractors and suppliers, from procurement to site management.
- Providing technical support to field engineers, ensuring they’ve got the right tools, drawings, and documentation.
- Completing toolbox talks, audits, and compliance checks to maintain high safety standards.
- Liaising with the office team to keep projects on track, ensure invoices are raised promptly, and maintain accurate records.
- Supporting the Director with reporting, updates, and ongoing improvements to processes.
We'd like to hear from candidates with:
- Proven experience in the fire protection/detection industry.
- Hands-on, practical approach - happy to get involved on-site as well as in the office.
- Relevant qualifications/accreditations, ideally including:
- Fire-related NVQ Level 3
- Manufacturer-certified fire systems training
- CSCS/ECS card and basic safety training (Manual Handling, Working at Height etc)
- Eligibility for enhanced DBS/security clearance
- Strong commercial awareness - comfortable with pricing, quotes, SoR/BoQ formats.
- Organised, computer literate, and confident managing multiple priorities.
- Additional skills in project management, design, or sales would be a bonus.
This is an opportunity to join a successful specialist fire protection business working at the forefront of data centre safety. You’ll be given real responsibility, the chance to shape processes, and the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and support.
If you’re an experienced fire systems professional who enjoys variety, responsibility, and seeing projects through from start to finish, we’d love to hear from you.
